Sports
The Brazilian Migration Law (Federal Law 13445/2017) and Decree 9199/2017
allows hiring of a foreign athlete, without employment bond, by a Brazilian individual
or company, in the following situations:
- By means of a visitor visa (VIVIS), with a stay period of up to ninety days, non-extendable at each migratory year; or
- By obtaining a temporary visa, with a fixed-term contract, with a up to 1-year stay period (according to Normative Resolution 16/2017).
In addition, it is also allowed to hire a foreign athlete, with employment bond, as a professional athlete, for a period of up to five years (according to Normative Resolution 21/2017).
Finally, there is also the possibility of hiring athletes over fourteen and under eighteen to carry out sports activities, within the scope of training conducted by a cultural center or sports entity (according to Normative Resolution 25/2018).
