Covid-19 test must be done within 72 hours before departure – valid from December 30, 2020 on

Brazilians and foreigners must submit a negative covid-19 test (RT-PCR type) to enter Brazil. The resolution was published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette on Thursday (Dec 17th, 2020). It will be valid from December 30 on, according to Ordinance 630/2020.

The test must be performed within 72 hours prior to departure. Both Brazilians and foreigners traveling to Brazil are subject to the same rule.

Travelers will also be required to complete a traveler’s health declaration (DSV), to be delivered upon landing. In the statement, the traveler agrees with the sanitary measures to be fulfilled during the period of stay.

Sanitary measures are extended to Brazilian citizens

Since the beginning of the pandemic, several restrictions on foreigners entering Brazil have been adopted.

In previous resolutions, sanitary measures requested from those who entered the country by air were not applied to Brazilians.

Failure to do so will result in citizens being held accountable in civil, administrative, and criminal forms. Punitive measures may include deportation or repatriation.
