The Brazilian Migration Law (Federal Law 13445/2017) and Decree 9199/2017
allows hiring of foreign artists, without employment bond, by a Brazilian individual or company, in the following situations:

  • By means of a visitor visa (VIVIS), with a stay period of up to ninety days, non-extendable at each migratory year; or
  • By granting a temporary visa, with a fixed-term contract, with a period of stay of up to one year (according to Normative Resolution 16/2017).

The legislation also mentions, together with Ordinance 656/2018 of the Ministry of Labor, the need to obtain authorization and register the activity with the Ministry of Labor for the performance of artistic activities by foreigners.
